Wilton Community Centre is looking for an enthusiastic person to join the Board of Trustees as its Vice Chair.
We are a friendly team of Trustees and staff, working to keep our thriving, busy Community Centre an attractive, welcoming and well-equipped venue for the people of Wilton and the surrounding area.
Working alongside the Chair, the Vice Chair’s main responsibilities include liaising with other Trustees, acting as the main point of contact for the Charities Commission and other external organisations and deputising for the Chair when they are unavailable.
Trustee meetings take place six times a year, including an AGM, with occasional extra meetings as required.

ROLE DESCRIPTION
Deputise for the Chair when the Chair is not available.
Chair meetings or act as Chair when decisions have to be made.
Liaison with the Trustees.
To keep records of all Trustees, past present and future, recording starting and leaving dates
To see that Trustees are kept informed of all activities concerning Wilton Community Centre (WCC) by email, phone, letter or digital meetings. (Templates available)
Constitution and Deed of Variation
To advise Trustees of the rules and regulations of the constitution and to see that WCC
Charity follows the rules as set out by the Charity Commission, ACRE, Community First,
Wiltshire Council, Wilton Town Council or any other statutory body.
Point of contact for the Charities Commission
To record all Trustees starting or leaving WCC on the Charity Commission website and to update all movements of Trustees.
To prepare the Trustees Annual Report in conjunction with the Chair and submit this with the Annual Accounts from the Auditors to the Charity Commission by 31st January each year.
Point of contact for all outside organisations.
Front person for most outside WCC matters. Liaising with Wilton Town Council, Salisbury Council, Wiltshire Council, Community First, ACRE, and all local Wilton organisations.
Fund Raiser/Grant Applications as required.
Responsible for all grant applications made by WCC since 2006. These have included:
Grants for repairs and solar panels, community garden, installation of Wi-Fi and most recently the Jubilee Celebrations in June 2022.
NB: WCC is well set up and probably won’t require any more grants but there is lots of info available via SWWAB South West Wiltshire Area Board should a grant be required for further projects or equipment.
Manage & update WCC Policies as required.
Working with the Chair to keep the policies annually updated and to advise Trustees and Management Team of the terms and conditions of the current policies.
